Opinions on Speer Hot-Cor bullets?

Thanks for the info Doc. I’ve been hoping to score some at a decent price to try in my 358 win but I’m being patient. They’re ridiculously over priced on GB. Been having good results with the Sierra 225 and have no reason to change other than just wanting to try something different.

Anyone shot these, I’m liking them so far

I use the 180gr Hot Core in my CVA 35 Whelen with a 25" barrel running 2900fps. I took a 200lb black bear in Saskatchewan last May with them. It looked like I pushed a 6 inch fence post through it. I love the 225gr BT for Elk and Moose, but wanted to try these for deer and bear. Very impressed.

These are an underrated projectile. They have performed well for me harvesting big Muley's in western Montana. All have been one shot lights out harvests. In 300 Win Mag velocities they still perform excellent, and they are very affordable. Are there others out there that perform better, sure. But they cost almost twice the amount.
Best Regards,
Western Mag Hunter

If you want to try something different look at the Furry line of bullets. They make a 200gr FN in 35 cal. I used it couple years ago in my 35 Whelen and it knocked the socks off a 7pt. Little softer than the Speer 220gr but perfect for whitetails I thought. Dan.

I was interested in those until I found a guy on YouTube that was testing them a lot. I think they are a perfect bullet for deer sized game. I just want more penetration for the elk I hunt.
