Opinions on this rifle????

I like the looks but think it's a little dear.

It is a nice looking stock and the quality of the carving has nice detail. I wonder why the owner felt it necessary to have a second recoil lug added to the barrel and if it was done by Weatherby?
I also saw what looked like a gas cut on the bolt face at about 10 o'clock.
I also wonder why the forearm was the only area that was glass bedded.
Because of these few things it is too rich for my pocket book.

I like the rifle a ton. Just don't care for the carving. Tons of skill involved and very nicely done but I think checkering is beautiful in its own right.

Never been enamored of the ornate look in a rifle. I know it is popular in the Bees, but checkering is more my style. To a Weatherby collector, I do not doubt that this could be a great acquisition. The work is superb and the price appears to be about right. The mesquite stock is sufficiently different to make it attractive; it would be a wood that wears well and doesn't warp. Were I a Weatherby fancier, I would probably make the effort to pick up that particular rifle.

That rifle is in exceptional condition.

As much as I like Weatherbys the carving is more than I'd prefer. I have a couple of Lazermarks as my "wall hangers", and this one would not personally appeal enough to want to buy it. However, I can see why someone would want to.

I'd hate to shoot it.

ALL 378 416 and 460 have a second recoil lug.

If you want Mesquite, it is as nice as you will find for this price, my humble opinion.

I'm with Scotty on this...I have never been a fan of carvings on a rifle...other than that, a very nice rifle, and I really like the mesquite stock...

Thanks Fotis I didn't know that, learn something new everyday.

Nice rifle in an awesome caliber. I prefer checkering to carving.

Mesquite is not as dense as walnut and with the .378, the extra lug may be needed. It is a nice custom shop Bee, Fotis. You don't see too many in mesquite.

It's a nice example of old-style custom Weatherby rifles.

Make sure you bed the tang (we all KNOW you're going to buy it).

Fotis it's a very attractive rifle with nice wood but I just cannot personally warm up to the carvings. That's just my personal preference just like you may your lady folk to have a bit more junk in the trunk than I do, but to each his own. I say if you really like it you should get it!

I'll be odd man out.(hope that doesn't sour you on it  )
I like it. It's unique. Custom with all the goodies.
Heck, just the paperwork, books and other stuff interests me.
Something about unique rifles.
Can't wait to see how it shoots for you.

Oh it is VERY dear Vince. Talked to the guy who took it as consignment. He stated that unfortunately the seller took some advice from "experts" and set reserve at $4k! I told him 2.5K max and not from me!

The one thing I always look forward to from you Fotis is dealing and getting good deals on those unique rifles. I agree with Dewey though, if you like it nothing any of us can say to slow you down or should!

It is a beast of a cartridge.
