ordered myself a new toy *update*

somebody from another site ran a quickload for me with this and it came out that with the scirocco being hard and long 61.5 of h4350 was supposed to be max
i see no hard bolt lift or flat or cratered primers or other evident pressure signs.
but 60.8- 61.1 and 61.5 gr. didn't change velocity so i was wondering if it was considered a max pressure sign, remember reading something like that once???

as Dr mike said might as well just keep this load (i'll probably play with coal though) for this fall and play with other powders when i get more time in the spring. it would certainly be deadly on deer to 500 yard as it is right now.

It seems like you are still getting a velocity increase of about 30FPS per .5gr of powder. Seems like you have a little room to expand. You do have an excellent load though. Is it pretty gentle on the bench compared to your 300UM? 7WSM is still a 7mm I would like to have one of these days! Kind of wished I would have gotten one in the M70 Laminate when I got my 270WSM. They still chamber the 270WSM, but the 7WSM has been dropped from the new M70's.... Scotty

i know it's an old post but i wanted to share the result of my shooting session of this afternoon.
i didn't get the chance to work on my load this winter, but had time the last few weeks
i followed Scotty's recommendation and bought a can of imr 7828.
velocity is great. i chronoed between 3205 and 3220 with a max load of 68 gr. (max is per quickload)
but there always was a couple fliers. i would get 3-4 shot under .75" but 1 or 2 would enlarge that up to 1.5-2".
best load so far is 67 gr. for 3145 fps average.
i tried a 3 shot group first at 2.860" coal ( i think it's the standard) and got 1"
then i tried at 2.920" ( 0.030" from the rifling) cause it's the lenght that seemed more accurate
in my coal testing.

pretty happy with the inexpensive rifle. :grin:

Wow, that load is DONE! Man, that is excellent speed and great accuracy. Can't imagine needing anything more than that. Great shooting and thanks for the update on it. Hopefully the 7WSM keeps popping up. Scotty
