After applying for Spring Bear, Mt. Goat, Bighorn Sheep, Pronghorn Antelope, Antlerless Deer, Elk, and Buck Deer; I didn't draw a single tag this year...you have to love "trying" to hunt in Oregon.

At least there are over-the-counter opportunities to hunt blacktailed deer, and spike elk...pretty discouraging to say the least.

Shiit I know exactly how you feel. I'm fed up with this state, thats why when I draw my big bull tag, I am heading to Missoula, place where I have the opportunity to hunt deer, big bull elk, antelope at least every other year. I'm sick of never drawing tags anymore, the last 5 years has gone to hel in ORegon. Your lucky to draw a buck tag anymore, and half the time you cant even draw a spike tag, at least I cant...Antelope, forget it, 10-14 years for a decent rifle tag. Doe deer tags, bout every 2-4 years. Cow elk tags are few and far between. I dont even put in for antelope anymore and dont put in for sheep and goats either, its a waste of money IMO. They get enough of it as is..

I have to fess up though, I"ve been waiting this whole time for a good unit. Sure I coulda got a starkey or ukiah tag 5 years back but those units suck... I've been putting in for mt emily big bull since I was 12, and am 23 now. That equals 11 years and 11 points later, I FINALLY DREW MY BIG BULL TAG!!!!! Didn't draw my fort rock buck deer tag, no surprise there...Finally drew a doe deer tag after 3 years for walla walla unit. So all in all, my best year in a long time...

THere is some real toads that are pushing 370-380" I see them at least 2-3 times through out the season when hunting spikes, only wishing I had a big bull tag. I got the 338 EDGE w/300g SMK's dialed in out to 1K pretty well so my butt will be planted halfway down the canyon and sitting all day every day waiting for mr big to present himself. I'll have about 4-5 different shooting locations anywhere from 300-1200 yards that are sure to bring out a big bull eventually. I'm gonna try and get the shot video taped, just need to talk someone into being crazy enough to go with me in the canyons, lol. I'll be running, lifting weights, and trying to scout at least every other week, but you never know with elk. They can be there one night and gone the next morning.

My dad drew his fort rock buck tag and his 2nd season spike for mt emily. Not successful for doe deer, antelope, sheep, or goat. So at least he will be with me during my big bull hunt as they are the same unit and dates. THat will be nice.

My cousins and uncle weren't so lucky. 1 cousin didn't draw squat, the other only drew a buck tag, but for the steens unit, use to be some monsters down there anyways. My uncle only drew 2nd season spike as well. Unsuccessful for everything else...

Good luck to all those who applied!! Hope you drew something.

The bucks down this way have alot of velvet on them right now. Just got back from four-wheeling and saw roughly 7 or 8 bucks.

Finaly drew mule deer tag Beulah unit . 3 years since last tag
Also drew Murders Ck for elk. 4 years since last tag
will be going over July on scouting trip
No Antalope or MT Goat.
Leaving in this Saturday fo Wallowa lake and do some goat scouting anyway.

Remingtonman...glad to hear you finally drew your bull tag, that should be a great tag.

Charlie, glad to hear you were successful as well...noticed you didn't mention Bighorns results...I guess that's what happens when you draw a tag and fill it!

Good luck guys.

Well I did as expected I guess, I got my W. Mt. Emily buck tag with one point. Other than that I didn't get jack. I get so dissapointed every year when I check the website and see the same thing.... UNSUCCESSFULL. I'm getting sick of this as well. Maybe it is my fault because I get my hopes up every year that I might draw some cool tag.

My wife drew a the same buck tag, and a land owner doe tag for the farm.

My little bro drew the same buck tag, and somehow managed to draw a stenes Mt. speed goat tag with six points! so were going to be doing some shooting and gun tinkering over the next three months.

Remingtonman we are going to have to be doing some serious shooting getting you ready for that big bull tag! Do you have a camera or do you need one, I got one that we can take. I only have four more years before I should get that tag so I would be fun to watch somebody shoot a big bull out of there!

Congrats on the tags. Your brother got real lucky on that goat tag, hope he gets a nice one. There still some pretty good bucks down there.

Yah I need to find some more 300g SMK's, then start sending some rounds downrange from 500-1000 yards. I've only got about 15 loaded right now. I need at least another 100, 150 would be even better. Then I'll need at least 2 more pounds of H-1000. I"ll have to get on it, it comes up real fast!!

I dont have a camera so if you would like to come up with me and video, your more then welcome. We have plenty of room. I"m gonna take a week off work and have the whole season off so hopefully I shoot it on one of the days you'll be up there. It should be a lot of fun. Usually see a lot of elk.

Well I would be honored to run the camera for ya. I'll pass on a spike tag to see a huge bull shot! I might just have to pick up my bow and blow the dust off and try to stick me a bull in september so I can go with ya.

I finally drew a mule deer tag, but was unsuccessful (again) for elk. Time to start scouting the Murderers Creek unit, I'm there every couple of weeks in the summer anyway.

Murderers Creek has some dandy bucks...I missed a 4X6 mulie with my bow, 45 yards off a trail, in the Strawberries, back in 1997...that buck still haunts me!

I applied for a cow tag in the Tioga unit and was unsucessfull again.
I did get my third choice for bull elk, 3 point +, in the Tioga unit.
The Tioga unit is a steep brushy bastard but I do get to hunt close to home. 30 minutes from the house and I am in hunting country. 8)
I didn't apply for any deer tags this year.

My Dad got really lucky and drew this hunt. Does anyone have any experience they would like to share. He's pretty excited. He had a stroke this year and is doing remarkably well. I can't wait to take him on his hunt. Nov.7-15.
