Nosler advertises the .323 200 grain PT at .426bc.
also, they advertise the .323 200 grain AB at .450bc.
I don't see how these two completely different bullets could have such a close BC??????
can any of you enlighten me??
the 426 bc of the PT seems about right, maybe a little high.
the 450 bc of the AB seems quite low.

Comparing side by side, I see way more difference than .024.......

any thoughts?????

I think BC's are voodoo made up to sell bullets! All jokes aside, I bet RR or some of the smarter guys will have a proper answer to the BC question. I assume that BC changes as velocity increase/decreases. I am pretty happy with anything over .400 to be honest and even lower with the 243/25 cal bullets. Scotty

I can shoot groups at 100, 200, 300, and 400, and come up with my own "real world" ballistic coeficient. If it 426 is true, life would be perfect! 8)

Sometimes I think BC means Blackmagic Calculation.

The BC changes with velocity and atmosphere conditions. I know that Nosler averages out these variables to publish the BC for a given bullet.

I would guess that the ogives for the two bullets are very similar radii. In fact, they may use similar forming die design. My guess is that the difference is the plastic tip which is somewhat more aerodynamic then the rounded lead of the PT bullet.

load them, sight in at 100 or 200.

Shoot them out to 500 or 600 and record drop. Now you have the most accurate BC (for your rifle load and area) you can get.

At a reasonable hunting distances, BC is irrelevant. You should be more concern about bullet sectional density and penetration ability. It will become relevant after 500 yards.

On Brian Litz's web site it gives you the math to check a bullets, estimated bc, with the g7 drag. I done it out of curiosity on the 160 gr 7mm AB, and came pretty close to what it actually shoots. Just for kicks as I no it really doesn't mean much I came up with, .282 on the g7 drag model.
