The other day I read some comments about the Partition's design and intended use. Comments like " the 220gr 338 Partition was designed for use in the 338 Win Mag and is to tough for the slower velocities of cartridges like the 338 Fed."

Is the construction of the Partition different from caliber to caliber? Meaning are the Max and Min impact velocities different for each caliber, or is the Partition a Partition and they are all the same?

steve4102,

The PT's are designed to cover a wide velocity span.
The 210 gr PT will work well at 338 Federal velocities. It expands well and gives deep penetration. You just need to keep the impact velocity above 1800 fps.

I have used this bullet in a 338 RUM at 3200 fps MV to take deer and black bear up close and a bull elk at 350 yds with no problems.

For optimum performance, I would want impact vel. to be closer to 2000fps. I feel vel. much below that cause too little expansion, JMO.
