I picked up this Sako 243 deluxe this past weekend.
I found it at Cabelas in Post Falls,Idaho and had it shipped to the Springfield, Oregon store.
This saved about $60 in sales tax.
This is a Pre Garcia bofors gun that was made aprox. 1960.
The scope is a low end Bushnell and will be changed to a Leupold 3x9 or 2.5x8 in the near future.View attachment sako deluxe.jpg

Thanks guys,
This makes number 12 in the Sako safe.
I like the av model sakos and have 5 of them but the slimer trimer pre garcias are my. favoret and now have 3 of them.
I would like to find a pre garcia bofors in 25-06, 308, and 300H&H

awesome gun always liked the older sakos, you wouldnt happen to have an original unmolested vixen heavy barrel in .222 would you? that is the one gun i have always wanted. i saw one at the last gun show i was at but the guy wanted the price of a good kidney for it. of course as luck would have it i had recently sold a kidney to complete the 6.5-47 22-243 build.

That is a nice looking rifle.
I bet she is a shooter too.
Looking forward to your range report.

That is a real nice one. Is it the deluxe model? I think older Sako's are the high water mark in factory rifles. I lucky to have one in 7mm-08 made about 1985.

Thanks guys,
I hope to get out soon and shoot this one and hope to find a good load with noslers.
Shoud make a good blacktail deer and goat gun.
usmc 89, i don't have a 222 heavy barrel but do have a 223 heavy barrel,and a 222 manlicher.
I to have a preference for the older sakos, but do have the newer AV actions as well.
