Just wanted to know what a bear looked like after it was skinned. Never seen one hung up and like some pointers.

Oh.... I'm getting excited as the season approaches.

I have film pics from my bears. The skinned carcass looks human like. :shock:
Make sure you get the hide off right away. A bear can spoil in a few hours if you don't get the heat out. Very important to split the hams too, you have to get it cooled down fast and that area is the first to spoil.

Nothing like a berry bear, my favorite! :grin:

ya sure they ain't spoiled while still on they're feet? man the meat eating boars smell bad. fattened on acorns they're pretty good, on meat they're almost edible.

Depends on the temp and November can really vary from 20-30* F on up to 50* F. If its in the upper 30* + F, I wouldn't wast too much time. All that hide and fat holds in the heat, just as it was designed to do.

long, if its warm, split the pelvis and the brisket and prop them open, the thickest parts is where it will spoil first, specialy if its bloodshot.
I killed one once at 11:00 AM, over a mile from my truck, was by myself, no way to get help. I split him stem to stern and layed him on his back on a big log and propped the ribs open the weight of the shoulders and hams hanging off the log spread him almost flat out for a 1/2 hour , he was fine when I got him out at 2:30 PM. temp was in the low 50's. Get them losing alot of heat quick and they cool down pretty fast.

I hunted bears with a guy that used to be a paramedic. He thought that bears looked human like until he had a really bad burn victom that they had to skin out and do skin grafts on. All the bears I've ever shot have been quartered up in the field, but I have heard from alot of people that htey do resemble a human.
