They can do a lot of damage very quickly.
I was told yesterday the they can have a bacteria that will make you real sick if you eat them.
I thought wild boar is good eating. I am going to check into it.
Trichinosis (a parasite) used to be a big problem with pork. That was back when the pigs were fed swill and garbage. Modern pigs eat mostly vegetables and are not an issue. I would still cook the wild ones well.
I've killed pigs with a bow and rifle and I've had a close call or two but never been cut by one. I'd like to try one with a pistol and maybe a boar spear  If I ever try the spear it'll be with dogs so they can save my bacon and I'd have a pistol on my hip. I've watched guys kill pigs with a knife but I don't have that much testosterone. If you like to hunt close up pig hunting is the answer. They don't see well so if stay down wind and stalk well you can get vey close.

As I mentioned a while back our good old boys in Florida on occasion put corn on the ground under a good sized tree, hide in the tree and then when the hog comes to feed they jump on the hog with a knife. I've seen a few of our more adventurous guys with stitches and other types of wounds that I wouldn't be too thrilled on getting. It must be a southern thing.
My grandson killed a 350 pound hog with a butcher knife on a hunt in Texas. He had killed 3-4 hogs with his .280 rifle and decided to kill one with a knife because the Texans were doing it.
