Pig Hunting, Parkfield, CA

I just got back to the Silicon Valley after a successful pig hunt in Parkfield with Roger Miller. What a great job he did in getting me onto a very large herd of pigs - after spotting them across a wide ravine, we had to hustle around to cut them off.

There were some real nice trophies - looked like small volkswagons!, and a collection of "eaters", which is what I was seeking. The successful hunt resulted in a visit to Los Gatos meats!

Roger and his family are alltime nicest people - we've been dove hunting on his ranch previously, and I had wanted to try the hog hunting.

I am definitely making a return trip to his ranch.

I too, have hunted with Roger Miller. We have always had a good hunt and Roger and his staff are first rate.

I really should go over there more often, not very far to drive from here. There is a multitude of game in that area. The Parkfield area has huntable deer and hogs, doves as you mentioned, ground squirrels, etc. I do not believe they are huntable, but I always see antelope when I go over there.

You may not even know, but did you hunt right on Rogers's own ranch? I understand that he is also hunting part of the Jack Ranch now. Just something I heard, not sure if it is true. The Jack Ranch is 80 some thousand acres, huge. More years ago than I want to admit we hunted the Jack Ranch with another guide, we saw lots of hogs and yeah, some were monsters.

So let me get this straight... the guy can't drive around with a tiger in his car.... he can't roller-skate in a buffalo herd.... but he can guide pig hunters? Jeez... no wonder the guy is King of the Road!
