Newly signed WA state bill will soak state residents to support the gray wolf "recovery". According to the bill, individuals with personalized vehicle license plates will be assessed an additional $10 fee annually.

"As signed by the Governor, SB 5193:
• Increases the state's personalized license plate fee by $10, effective Oct. 1, 2013, with the proceeds to support WDFW's efforts to monitor wolf recovery and prevent wolf-livestock conflict in collaboration with farmers, ranchers and local governments, and to compensate livestock owners. The Department of Licensing estimates the fee will raise more than $1.5 million during the upcoming two-year budget cycle."

I understand that livestock owners are having trouble with wolves. But, if they keep quiet, remove all wolves on site, end of issue.

I have had special plates on two of my vehicles for over 15 years. That ends with the upcoming renewal...

Now's the time to speak out. You'll pay for the wolf introduction, then you'll lose the game. Ranchers will be compensated for as long as it takes to get the infestation beyond the point of no return, then cows, sheep, horses and pets will be on the menu without compensation. BT

...funny thing that...

...the "eco-terroristas" got a whole bunch of donated money that was supposed to be used to offset livestock losses during "grizzly & wolf recovery". Since it's very hard to prove they actually killed the livestock after they've already ate it, few if any claims were paid, & now no one seems to know where those funds are...

A couple of years ago, not far from where I'm sitting, an emboldened pack of wolves decided to include horses in their diet. A man's prize quarter horse was run through a fence and then attacked by the wolves. The owner heard the commotion and panicked scream by his horse. He wasn't able to shoot the offenders, but the FWP did trap some of the wolves from that pack. The FWP had no choice. The anger in the community that incident caused was palpable. I don't remember hearing what if any compensation was given.
