Powder dump variance?

I will again have a chance to shoot prairie dogs in Oct., when I travel to Wyoming for a combo hunt on Muley and Pronghorn. I am loading 250 rounds of 22-250 and 250 rounds of 223Rem, to use for PD shooting.
For deer loads, I weigh each load that comes out of the powder dump and adjust according, so that each load is uniform to the 1/10 grain. However, loading the volume that I am working on, will the powder variance of 2/10 grain expand my groups enough for concern, regarding missing shots on PDs ? Probably 99% of all shots taken are well within 300 yards. I figure that the target area on a PD is a three inch circle.
When I hand weigh each powder load, I am holding 1 1/4 inch groups at 200 yards, shooting off the bench. Both rifles have a bull barrel. The 223Rem rifle is a Tikka Sporter, heavy barrel. The 22-250 rifle is a Savage Varminter.
I am using a Lyman powder dump and H380 propellant, which will meter out well.

In answer to your biggest concern, no, I don't think you could tell the difference in shells with 2/10 of a grain difference in powder. Especially in field conditions on prairie dogs. And especially in that darned Wyoming wind.

Sure, if you are trying to stretch the range WAY out there maybe, but under the conditions you describe, no way.

I would think your powder measure would do better than that with H 380 powder, though. It is a ball powder and should meter better than that. I can do that well or better when loading H 4895 using my RCBS powder measure. We used to go to South Dakota on trips dedicated just to prairie dogs. I used to take 2000 shells as a routine, that would take forever to weigh by hand.

Good luck on your combined hunt, sounds like fun.

R Flowers is correct. Throw the powder with your Lyman Powder Measure and enjoy the shoot. Hey, it gives you an excuse if you miss. I also agree that your deviation from norm should be much tighter than 0.2 grains. Here's hoping you have a great time shooting those pesky critters.

Everyone is correct "you" will never know the difference. I have done it many times (not that many) and even on targets noticed little difference.

I did see that Nosler does have ,223 50 gr HP bullets of sale for a "Killer" deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You might check it out!

I just loaded up my 22-250 for p-dog season. Weighed about 1 or two in every box, the rest just got a nice even throw of the lever. The p-dogs will not be able to tell the difference.

Do you have a link or is an in store deal...I may have to make a trip to Bend if so.

I use H380 with the 55gr bt in my ,243. 47.5 gr and I started out weighing every fifth one. The weight was always spot on. Now I might weigh one in twenty, and it will print three shot groups under half inch all day long. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks, just got off the phone with Gary and they are an over run for a forign company. They do not have any avaliabe at this time.
