This is my first post on this forum and I would like to thank everyone for any help you offer in advance.

I have a browning M1000 Eclipse in a 7mm WSM. I use this rifle for hunting but I do an awful lot of bench rest shooting with this gun as well. I am also fairly new to reloading and have been toying around with a few powders that I was recomended by a local competition shooter I know. Here is what I have been playing around with.

h4350 extreme
IMR 4350
IMR 4831

My most accurate load is 61.5 grains of H4350 with a 160 grain Nosler AccuBond. My average 5 shot group at 200 yards is sub .75" I have asked alot of people what other powders coulde work well in this caliber and bullet and wanted to see what the reloaders in this board thought. Any advise for a 168 grain sirerra match king would be appreciated as well.

thanks

While my particular short magnum is a .270, I feel pretty confident in saying any powder in the IMR-4350 and slower range should work fine in any of the short magnums. I have used and had good results with
IMR-4350
Accurate XMR-4350
Reloder 19
Reloder 22
Vihtavuori N-165
H-4831
and Accurate Data 86 bulk powder. Had I not bought 16 lbs of Data 86, I would also be trying Accurate Magpro and Ramshot Magnum. Others are using IMR-7828, H-1000 and Retumbo.
IF you are getting the results you desire, go with your H-4350. Although, it may be possible to gain a little velocity with a slower burning powder, I don't think you will improve your accuracy much if you are averaging 3/4 of an inch or less at 200 yards.

i''m in total agreement with 2ndtimer.. he''s really done his home work on this question, not forgeting the original poster  3/4 inch at 200 yds is really playing ball!!!!!! congrats i''d advise you 2 try those 168''s and 160 accubonds with that same powder h4350 ....and shoot at longer range about 500 or 600yards . short range proves the reload, long range proves shooter''s abilities...ain''t shooting fun? nobody too challenge but our-self''s... regards jjmp

I appreciate the help. I have been pleased so far with the rifle and the performance of the reloads. I am just trying to explore other options and improve. Why shoot 3/4" groups if 1/2 or 1/4" groups are acheiveable?

Thanks for the help guys.

And if half inch groups are possible at 3000 fps, why not try to fnd a way to get them at 3200 fps? It never ends.... Who says we have to be reasonable?

Though I am more accustomed to the 300 WSM, I would start with the data from Winchester. THey did develop the first ammo. THey reccomend Winchester WXR, you can get charges from their website. THey use exclusively nosler bullets for this data.

You also might try a little smaller bullet. The 160g will push back a little too far into the case for the shortmag. My 300 shoots better in the 165 range so I would expect you to get better accuracy from the 140 g.

Winchester says

70.0 g WXR behind 140g BST at 3200fps and 61,500psi

drop down and work your way up if you use nosler instead of combined technology. This is due to the lack of the lubox coating your pressures will be higher.
