I got an M1 Garand coming and I'm putting a Schuster's adjustable gas plugs to run full power .30-06 through it. I'm going to have one load for steel shooting and one load for pig hunting. I plan on using 175 Custom Competitions for the target load and 180 E-Tips for pig hunting. I'm planning on using RL-22 for both but will use another powder for the E-Tip is I have to. The goal is to have a similar trajectory and pressures so I can switch between the two with no adjustments.

The question is, how do the pressures compare between 62.0 grains of RL-22 with the 175s and 60.0 grains of RL-22 with the 180 E-Tips? How about 62.0 grains of RL-22 and 57.0 of Ramshot Hunter?

I thought that Garand's needed to run with loads that are close to the original .30-06 burning rates (i.e. IMR 4895 or 4064)? Correct me if I am wrong.

The adjustable gas plug keeps the pressure on the op-rod at about the same level as the GI gas plug with military ammo.
