QL -223 80 Eldm

Gentlemen, would someone be so kind to run me a QL on the following parameters:

223 Rem
60K max psi
80 gr Eldm
CCI450
VV 550 powder
2.500 oal
22” barrel

Thank you so much. I know VV550 is quite slow burning but since it’s a double base powder and dense it might prove useful with heavy bullets.

Might have to get that 28” barrel put on my vanguard… should get me another 150 +/- fps over the Mini with 22” barrel!!

I’ve been thinking of trying V540. Seems like it hammers in the 223. Lately been on a Viht streak. It’s good stuff and less money than H powders these days.

Scotty, I shot a couple of loads with 25.5 and 26 to “test” the QL … it’s pretty darn close as I got 2650 fps and 2700 fps respectively… like you I m seeing VV as a new option for powder. Years past I never tried it due to the cost being near double everything else; not the case anymore! Like to see them steal some market share to possibly help us shooters keep some pressure on the escalating costs.

Keep us posted on anything you try. I plan to shoot a few groups with the 26 gr charge of N550 and Eldm 80 s in next week or two myself

BTW, the N550 worked nicely in my 7-08 with 45 grs giving a 139 Hor BTSP a 2800 fps ride and sub-moa grouping.
