6.5/06, 142g LRAB, 26" bbl, OAL 3.4"

.715 BC is pretty sweeeeet for a 6.5

If I can reach 2950fps, its about as close to a twin to my 7-300 w/162 amax at 3100, except for a bit in energy and beats it in the wind.

Thanks

Jorey, like Mike stated, there isn't any data for the 142 yet but I'd be okay with using Bergers 140 data or any other 140 as well really. I'd bet with your 27" barrel you'd get 2900 easily and then some with just about any powder you'd use for the 6.5-06.

Looking forward to seeing how you make out with it. Sounds like it's going to be sweet.

...Sierra shows 2950fps. w/ 51.5grs. of IMR-4350 (MAX load!!!) for their 142gr. SMK in a 6.5-06, working up towards that should give you a starting point w/ the ABLR...

I can run a sim when I get home Jorey BUT I can sub the bullet with 140 amax or 142 SMK as noted above

It certainly appears doable with the Sierra 142 grain MatchKing.

Wow, that's impressive stuff!

Talk about an easy shooting LR combo. Plus it'll be a Model 70!

The 6.5-06 A-Square has always been an under appreciated cartridge. It can be a thumper.

Thank you so much guys!

And yes, its gonna be a nice CRF model 70 Scotty, time to rebarrel the ol 25/06 :)

Just a 26" Bartlein stainless 5R #3 contour 8 twist. Keep the factory wood stock and just bed it as I do like the warmth and feel of wood anyway.

The 6.5/06 has always peaked my interest since started shooting longer ranges, its just kind of a no brainer as compared to the 25 cal bullet selection. It looks like 3000 will be easily obtainable with the powders I have in mind.

That is pretty darn impressive! Not a lot of recoil and powder for a fantastic return in down range performance!
