QL request 280 Rem & 7-300 Win Mag please

Looking for a QL prediction for the 280 Rem with 24" bbl, OAL of 3.330", and the 175g NP at max 270 pressures, all powders.

Also the 7-300 Win Mag, 28" bbl, OAl of 3.4", 175g NP, max pressure, all powders.

Thanks Dr Mike, but that's a mix of both of what I was looking for. You gave me the 280 Rem with a 28" bbl, and I was looking for a 24" bbl on the 280.

The 28" bbl is for the 7-300 Win Mag.

Looking for 2 different calibers and barrel lengths here.

Not a big deal, I always appreciate your help!

Looks like 2800fps is pretty doable with a few powders. Make a great brush/timber load for big game. Keep a few in my pocket when I know the range will be under 100 yards walking through the trees. Other than that, the 162 AMAX gets the nod for LR work.

I hope you are feeling better DrMike!

This is very interesting, I'm using a 150g AB over RL26 at just over 3000 fps with a 24" barrel and this 175g PT has a BC of .519, if I could get 2900 fps with RL26 there would be very little difference out to about 500 yards.

I think you'll have a hard time getting 2900fps with a 175g from a 280 without a bit of pressure and losing primer pockets after a few firings. I'd rather back off 75-100fps and double case life and not be on the ragged edge of pressure, but that's just me. I think with RL26 2850fps would be about as high as I would go and 2800fps with a few of the other powders. We shall see soon enough though! Getting a 4 port brake and new trigger for the 700 KS 280 in a couple weeks, then I'll start some real load development with it.
