I have noticed a .10-.25 thousands of an inch stretch on my 300 mag cases. Should I trim them to the spec? What tolerance is allowed?

Thanks,
Scott

YOu have to trim to the spec in the reloading manuals. Now it might be good to find out why they "grew". You may have alot of headspace in your chamber. If you keep setting your sizing die down to the shellholder you will likely get a crack in about 3 loadings just ahead of the belt because of stretching your brass.
Do you understand about setting your sizing die for the correct headspace? Once it is set the brass should stop growing so much during resizing.

I have a stoney point headspace/bushing kit. I do alot of reloading for friends (which takes away my credibility as a "smart reloader"). I couldn't load without it. I've seen guns that "grow the brass" by .030" from a new case to once fired.
If you do alot of reloading put it "on your x-mas wish list" and I think you'll be glad you did.
