I'm getting a 1-9" 223 22" I tried to find an existing post but search was not helpful for a longer barrel, just 16". I have several bullets on the shelf. 55gr Ballistic tip, 64gr bonded, 55gr flat base sierra, 64gr win PP. Powder of choice will be H4895. Because that is what I have. I have several other slower powders but doubt they will be useful. My existing loads are for a mini14 using Varget. Hopefully they will work. But I have not seen Varget on a shelf for years.

Thanks. the 55gr BT at 3100 sure looks possible. Will simplify my PBR sight in.

It's best if you have actual case capacity in grains of H20. QL's default capacity is 28.8gr whereas most 223 brass has a capacity around 30gr.

No issues with my existing Mini14 223 load in this marlin X7. Chambers fine which I assumed it would. Mounted the M8 4X leupold in low weaver rings and a 1.75x5x20 Burris FFII in mediums. Range work will decide How it ends up dressed. Walking predator rifle will be its job description. The main mini14 load is a 64gr win PP on 25gr of varget 18" barrel gives 2960fps. If this or the 70gr speer 25gr varget 2840fps load works I
l'll Have a good supply of ammo for this season. Target picture to follow. Thanks again.

I have been loading 25.5grs. H-4895 behind a 55gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip in LC Brass with Remington 7 1/2 or CCI-400 Primers seated to a COL of 2.252" for years. This is become my go to load for any new .223. I have yet to find a .223 that will not shoot this load sub MOA.

I have chronographed this load in several different .223's from 14" to 24" but do not know f I ever chronographed it out of a 22" Barrel. I'll have to check later as it is way to early in the morning for me to concentrate and I just got home from getting called out 1 1/2 hours ago.

I was measuring to the lands tonight. The 55gr ballistic tip is touching at 2.300" And I have enough magazine length to work back from there. Which is good news.

I have 5 loaded for first test. LC 04 brass Which I have 25. CCI400, 25gr H4895, 55gr ballistic tip, OAL 2.285". 5 fit in the magazine nice. My LC brass is 92gr each on average. My Winchester brass is 96gr on average and some MIL surp brass is 99.5gr on average.

Well yesterdays range test went well. Rifle shot everything well. I shot 8 loads. 6 where in the 1" at 100yrd range, 2 where a bit worse. The 55gr Ballistic tip was second best group. Rifle appears to like a bit more jump, So i'll adjust OAL length and see if the minor vertical stringing go's away. Rifle likes H4895 and Varget. The M8 4x leupold is not a target scope, Groups reflected this and still where under 1" 4 out of 5. I feel this rifle is probably a 1/2" gun with the best loads, if I was to mount a target scope on it. The most accurate load was military brass, CCI 400, 25.5gr Varget, 69gr HPBT match. Which I think are sierra. But I would need to look at my old log book to confirm.
