Quick load 7x57 please

I’ve been reading other posts and curious if some one can make a quick load chart showing 120gr ttsx, 140 gr etip and 140gr AB up to 64,000psi. My rifle is a model 70 FTW 22” barrel. I do not have a specific powder in mind, I’ll have to purchase whichever powder seems best for these loads. Thank you
 
Welcome aboard. I have been loading 49.5 grains of reloading 17, gets me right at 60psi I’m getting 2925 with the 140 accubonds and Ballistic tips. Don’t recall what speed I got with the 140ttsx, but I’m sure with a 120 at that pressure she will be screaming.

Thank you for the reply. That seems like a great place to land. I’ll load below and work up to there.
 
I get 2800 FPS with the 140 gr. Ballistic tip ususing W760. For some reason I seem to have a fast lot of that powder.

I settled on 47.5 gr. RL17, 150 gr. Nosler Partition, Remington brass match prepped and Winchester WLR primer. Velocity 2850 FPS. I did work up to 2880 FPS but it was a hot day (110*in the shade) bolt lift felt a tad sticky.

Groups were all sub MOA and my rifle was a 1980's Winchester M70 Featherweight.

Thank you for the info. I’m in South Louisiana so we have hot days as well and something for me to consider while developing a load. My rifle is a 1982 xtr ftw it’s still in the box currently and hasn’t been fired since it left the factory. I’m actually going back and forth on actually using it, but the xtr rifles don’t fetch too much for collectors.

My 7x57 is the XTR FWT and I have its mate in ,257 Roberts. I shoot them. That's what they are for.

If you're doing load work, one of the handiest things is a chronograph. They can give you a good idea of when you've getting close to a max load.
Powders are design to work within a certain pressure level. Go too low and results are erratic. Go too high and you have a KABOOM and possibly a hospital bill.

Let's look at the 7x57 running a 140 gr. bullet over power X. The start load is 35.0 gr. for 2200 fps. and the max 40 gr. for 2600 FPS. That 's your base data. As we know the cartridge is loaded to nowhere near it's full potential, we start at 35.5 gr. of powder X and load three rounds with 35., 36.0, 36.5, 37.0, 37.5, 38.0, 38.5, 39.0. 39.5 and 40.0 for openers. To make it easy, take a piece of binder paper or better yet graph paper if you have some but the binder works just fine .On the left side of the paper draw a verticle line, Draw a horizontal line across the bottom. Draw one more line from the lower left corner to the upper right corner, in essence at a 45 degree angle.

Mark the vertical line velocity and the horizontal powder charge or just plain charge.

Now comes the fun. Use the velocity from the chronograph and average the speed of the three shots. and plot it across from the charge posted. Then letting the barrel cool a bit do load number two and so on up the line. You won't have a perfectly straight line when connecting the dots. A little bit of up and down on the line doesn't mean much. It's when you approach the max that is the point you're looking for. It's the radical jump or loss of speed that you're looking for. Sometimes the velocity stays the same.
If the first run proves OK and you want to go farther, that's where graphing really is big help. You can stay with half grain increased but will probably have to use something like 0.3 gr.

What this is telling is the power has reached or passed the point where it is still within its specified pressure range.
I'll be the first to admit the system isn't perfect but it has definitely kept me out of trouble when looking for proper loads in cartridges deliberately kept low by SAAMI or by factory requests.

Thanks a bunch. I do have a chronograph and it does come in handy. I’ve just recently learned about this quick loads program and what it can do for cartridges like 7x57 that have watered down load data. It seems as though rl-17 is the most popular powder for high pressure loads.
