I've seen a lot of loads for the 7.62x39 posted online, but I don't remember ever seeing a QuickLoad one for that caliber for the SKS...can someone give me some numbers based on these factors:

21.5" barrel
35.1 gr water case capacity
Sierra 125 gr, .311 bullet (#2305)
Sierra 150 gr, .311 bullet (#2300)
Reloder 7 powder

Thanks

WOW DrMike,
I'm not a QL guy but your data is spot on.
I play with an SKS quite a bit and with the 123gr V-max (0.310") and Rel 7.

27gr is about the best point for my particular SKS, a couple tenths less for the wife's.
I get an average of 2450 in my SKS, 2470 in the wife's with 27gr.
I tried 27.3 and groups opened up a little. Never went higher.
26.6gr and they opened up on the low end with 2420 avg velocity.

I guess the X39 and QL are a good fit.

OK, now another question.
This NEW powder, Hodgdon CFE BLK that was released for the .300 BLK has on-line data for the X39. BUT, it seems a little suspect.

Here's their 125gr data for the 7.62X39

Look at the loads. Does it look like a cut and paste error to anyone but me?

I used a 101.5 grain steel case as the light one and a 106.65 grain case as the heavy one.
Light case; 6.577 grams empty, 8.867 grams full of water, 2.290 grams of water (35.34gr).
Heavy case; 6.909 grams empty, 9.145 grams full of water, 2.236 grams of water (34.51gr).
The heavy case is 5% heavier than the light case.
The light case holds 2.4% more water than the heavy case.

I usually cull out the few light and heavy cases.
I did not calculate usable volume.
