Range day .308 Tactical

I have been out on the fire line for a couple of weeks. Shot these two groups just before I left for Southern Oregon. I will be home for a few days then probably out again. I will need to try the Sierra 168 MK, but other than that I am done with my testing. The group size was corrected to 100 yards and the left group left a very ragged hole.

Great shooting Bill. Great way to bleed off stress. I use the same load, shells, primers except 44 grains of Varget. Have some Lapua brass that I have been wanting to try.

At this time I can't see a difference in the performance between the Federal Match and the Lapua. But it did add to my quality brass numbers. I will have to shoot some more to be sure.
Thanks all for the comments, I have been working toward those group sizes for a couple of months and now I am there.

Nice! A .308 is a very rewarding cartridge with which to work. Good shooting on your part too!

I've used both Lapua & Federal match brass, as well as prepped Winchester. The Lapua seemed to be really high quality, but I'm not sure there was ever a real advantage revealed on the long range targets.

Evening Charlie

Oregon has several large fires that will probably be active for a few more weeks. I was on the Whiskey fire which crossed our lines Wednesday afternoon and burned an additional 400 acres over night. Its near Riddle on some steep ground and lots of big timber, which encourages long range spotting. A nice rain storm would be great.

One thing I noticed with the Federal brass was that I had to turn the outside necks. An added step infront of the TV watching the hunting channel. You be safe now.
