Been working on a load for the new Remington Tactical. Had a little time today and no wind so I ran down to my range and blasted a couple of 3 shot groups. I have been using RL-15 and these are my 5th and 6th groups total with the rifle. I have pretty much decided on the RL-15 but not the seating depth. These two groups were my first attempt at seating depth. I have been using standard federal primers, but may switch to magnum primers. Lots of loading data out in the world suggest that the magnums are more accurate. Groups were shot at 118 yards and corrected to 100.

My natural inclination is to leave well enough alone. But I may run a couple of groups with the magnum and standard CCI primers and see if it makes a difference. By adjusting the loads I have reduced group size by around .400, from my first attempt, not bad for a Remington.

Actually, there are only two classes of people posting here: Model 70 owners and those who wish they had bought a Remington.

Looks pretty good Bill, seems like you have a hitter. I imagine once that barrel is broken in, it'll probably get better.

Looks like RL15 is working really well!

Looks like dang fine starting and stopping point to me, good shooting. A little what if tinkering can't hurt if your curious but that load right there will hunt.

That old Elkman is retired! He has plenty of time to tinker with the guns!

Shhhhhhh, don't tell his other half he snuck out to do some shooting, she'll have him in another project!

Think I should call Mrs Elkman and let her know Bill can remodel the kitchen again if he tinkers with that load anymore!

That is just mean. It takes an evil mind to even think of such things as that.

This is exactly the same advice that I would give another poster here. I am just curious as to how smaller it will go.!

I just finished reflooring the hallways, entryway and bathroom. Plus a new tile shower in the master bath, and a new front door. I am now working on adding another 15 Kw to the solar array, and some dectoratrive trim in the dineing room. In another couple of months it will be time to start working again. In my spare time I get to shoot.

I have to thank Scotty for the RL-15 without his consistent prodding I would have started with 3031. The down side is I have lots of 3031 (for the 45/70) and little RL-15. I will have all of my suppliers looking for me.

I love this saying Bill. It's hard to not like the accuracy most of the Remington's are capable of.

I can't really take much credit for it, I think your shooting Sierra's accuracy load for the 165/168.. They are usually pretty close..
