I'm certain there are many roads to happiness (wise man say...) but, having it all done under one roof did save me a bunch of hassle (and TIME) when something went wrong. There was no question of responsibility, no waiting for the barrel company to get a new barrel to the gunsmith, etc. Pac-Nor had it back in my hands in a week. (The mistake was in barrel profile).
That said, perhaps the mistake would never have been made by a gunsmith, who knows... I certainly wouldn't hesitate to use a good smith for a rebarrel, just reporting that doing it the other way has a few small perks, too.
