Real .243 Win Velocities

Not since I developed the original load, which looking at my ammo box this morning, turned out to be 40.5 gr not 41. Seating depth will be next pending my next range session.

Looks like as long as you keep speeds under 3000 with H4350 you are below 60kpsi. Keep in mind that Optimum barrel time for 22" barrel in this speed range with H4350 is 1.12 ms or in this instance 2934fps which will give approx 56kpsi. Let magnetospeed guide you.

“Optimum barrel time”?

No two barrels are anything alike either. Interior finish, throating, lead angle, chamber dimensions, crown (yes, they effect pressure/velocity too), etc. all vary far too much to assume:

A: that the optimum barrel time is “X”. That’s borderline preposterous.
B: that just because you’re “under 3000 fps” your pressure is fine. Though, this is a much better presumption than the first.

Let the rifle/brass/chronograph/targets tell you when you’re where you wanna be.

PS.... 2850 fps was the “best” in your first assertion.... now 2934 fps is best?

Are you an engineer?

I get around 3150 fps with the 95gr Ballistic Tip in my 22" Tikka .243 using HV100 powder. Off the top of my head, I think the charge is right around 42.0gr
