Im working on a reduced recoil load for my nephew for the 308 win. I'm trying 46 grains of imr 4350 with 125 grain ballistic tips. Any suggestions for a better load and possibly a more accurrate one? Recoil is down significantly but group size has grown a little to about 2" at 100 yards. Also what do you folks think the effective range of that load would be on eastern white tail deer?

Try H322 @ 42.0 with a Sierra 150 Gameking and Federal 210 Match Primers in WW cases @ 2.79" Cart. Overall Length (COL).

This is the load I started my 13 year old with!

Give IMR4895 a try, starting load with a 125 gr BT is 41.5 grs for a MV of 2600 fps.
Another powder is Varget, starting load for 125 gr BT is 46.0 grs for a MV of 2800 fps.
At these speeds, the 125 gr BT would work just fine for deer.
