Reloader 33 Powder

I see that RL-33 is due out in a few months. Is this powder projected to be viable for the 300 RUM?
If so since RL25 shoots so well with my gun using 200 AB I may give it try.

Don

It should be very close to retumbo. Between RL25 and RL50.

Should work great!

I would be inclined to try it. There is no apparent reason it wouldn't work well in that cartridge.

I just wish the Reoder series were more temp insensitive.

Here is RL 33 load data from Ben Amonette at Alliant

Looks pretty danged good for the bigger mags. Supposed to be temp insensitive like RL17 isn't it?

Scotty,
Yes, it is temp sensitive.

I can't wait to give it a try in the 338 RUM.

I'd be curious if it would give me more velocity than the book max charge I'm using now with RL25 and the 200 AB @3100 fps and similar accuracy. Guess I'll find out later.

JD,
I would assume your 338 RUM would fair well with it.

It should be really good in a 264WM as well I would think. It would be very hard for me to mess with my current load, but I am not sure I could resist. I have had really good luck with the Alliant powders.

My impression of what I heard from the presentation from the Shot Show was that RL33 is suppose to give an extra 100-150 fps over similar powders as well as be temp insensitive

Man, that would put 140's in the 3300 range out of the 264. I imagine it would be a screamer in the RUM's as well..

Scotty,
I've had equal success with Alliant powders as well. I remember years past I shot my 7 Rem Mag with RL 22 and had excellent results. Time will tell with RL 33. If the track record stays true with Alliant Powders RL 33 should be a great success.
