Reloading 257 Roberts and 115 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip

How did we get off the subject, this was a post about a .257 Roberts load?

The OP brought it up in Post #10.

As for the 257 Roberts, I am still working on load development in my new to me custom LH Sako 591. The rifle's beautiful stock was done by the late local stockmaker, Lew Bates, the 22" Shilen barrel with a 1:10 twist was done by the Albertan gunsmith, Ron Smith, and the metal work was completed by Rod Hendricks, and the bluing and polishing finished by Kerry Stricker (all Canadian skilled craftsmen). I have met Ron Smith a number of years ago, and I was a casual acquaintance of Lew Bates. Glad to have one of his stocks!
Due to the actions short mag box, I cannot load out close to the lands at 2.893", so kept the COAL to 2.780"

The rifle does like Nosler's 110 gr AccuBond ammunition, producing a 0.582" 5 shot group at 100 yards, at 2989 fps, with a SD of 12.4.
As for the handloads, I have tried the 115 gr BT with Re-22, 17 and H-414 so far. And I have loads ready to try with IMR 4831, and H-4831.
So far, 49.0 gr of Re-22 is showing promise, as the first 2 shots went into 0.426", but I pulled the third shot which opened the group up to 1.540". I will load some more and try again to see what it's true accuracy potential will be, as velocity was 3068 fps with an ES of 6.4 and an SD of 2.9 (pressure just under 62,500 psi according to QL).
I also have the 115 gr Partition to try, to see if I get better performance with a flat based bullet, at this weight.

Cannot wait to take this rifle out for a deer, antelope, or smaller plains game hunt! (Once I have settled on a load)
