Because of a trade with another member, I have acquired some bullets from the Montana bullets company. Is there anything that I need to know about loading these? Gas checks? Any special requirements? I will be using imr700x and they are 125gr. Thanks in advance. Steve

I've been shooting them over 4.8 gr unique. Minimal leading, good accuracy, great function in my Hi-Power. A similar vel. load of 700x should work well for you. No gas check req. They are pre-lubed, ready to go. The only thing you might need to change is it may be necessary to put a little more bell on your cases in the expansion stage than you do with jacketed bullets. If you keep the vel. under 1400 you shouldn't have any leading issues. I've been shooting them for 3 years now, I love cast in my 9mm for IDPA action shooting. Really keeps the cost down.

My COL with this bullet is 1.105"

Hodgedon/IMR lists 2.9-3.4 gr as the charge range for 125 cast with 700X. The lightest charge that will reliably cycle your HG would be my recommendation.

I shoot my own home cast bullets in 9MM, a 125 gr. Lyman bullet (#356402) with the truncated cone nose. My charge is 5.0 gr. og Unique. One thing I've found shooting cast in 9MM's is bullet size is important. I size my bullets to .358". Some commercial cast bullets are sized to .356" and thata's too small and they usually lead the barrel. Sized to .357" will work most of he time but I personally prefer .358" if the gun will accept a bullet that fat in the chambered round.

I shoot mine a little over 1000 fps with Unique. Clean barrels between cast and jacketed.
