Has anyone done any reloading & chrony work for this cartridge yet, specifically with the 20" barrel???.......I have fired 80 rounds of 270 gr. factory ammo through my Ruger Alaskan, which will be sold to my neighbor after my new 20" barreled .375 Ruger Howa M1500 comes in. Since my neighbor is buying my Alaskan, I won`t be firing it anymore in order to preserve it for him and unable to do any reloading/range work................Since I couldn`t find any reloading data specifically for the 225 grainer, I called Hornady requesting any reloading data they may possibly have using their 225 gr. Spire Pt. from the 20" barrel............They e/mailed me back a one page data sheet showing their results from the 20" barrel; 79.5 gr. RL 15 @ 3000 fps. The other powder used showing results of 3000 fps. was the Win 760............The Hodgdon site has alot of reloading data for the .375 Ruger but with no specifics on barrel length. Before my new rifle arrives in Sept., I`d like to get as much info as I can from any actual .375 Ruger owners who have reloaded, then chrony`d the 20" tubes!............Anyone?........Much appreciated!

I too am curious to see just what kind of figures my fellow reloaders are getting out of the 20" Ruger Alaskan barrels and if they are comparable to the Hornady factory loads for velocity and energy. Being the rifle/caliber have been around for a while there should be some good up to date information by now. I am looking forward to picking up a stainless .375 Ruger Alaskan sometime in the near future.

....................................AK................If I get no responses, then WE may be the first to report!..........I did however chrono some 270 gr. factory loads from my Alaskan. My results averaged 2703 fps. With a little reloading experimentation, I can probably push very close to if not get 2800 with a 270 gr..................Also, I saw an episode on the "Outdoor Channel" shot in Africa on safari. Using the 300 gr. Hornady solids from a 375 Ruger, there was complete penetration, entry-exit wound from one side to the other on a huge caped buffalo. This was not the same show with Steve Hornady and Boddington!!.....BTW! FYI, the Howa M1500, with the same identical Hogue stock, a free-floating barrel, same 20" matte blued barrel, same action as in the Wby Vanguards, but a smoother action than the Ruger, in blued, will sell for about $400 to $450 less than the Alaskan with an MSRP of only $589. The stainless version is around $750...........My neighbor, a Ruger love freak, is buying my Alaskan for what I paid for it out the door as though he bought it originally at the same price!........The difference in bucks is going toward my new Kahles Helia CL 2x7 (at $459), already ordered and going on the Howa when it comes in Aug. or Sept..................You just may want to take a good look at the M1500`s as a consideration and alternative to the Ruger Alaskan. It`s almost the same rifle, for less money and IMO better than the Alaskan with an easier to operate safety, the addition of the free floating barrel (not on the Alaskan) along with a smoother action. Maybe more accurate too???.............www.legacysports.com............From their homepage, click to download the `08 catalog!..................

POP!...........Thanks for the info!...........I knew I`d see something from you!...........Already have the 260 gr. info!..........Looking for some speedy 225 gr. info!..............After all! Us shorter barreled fans need to keep up with you longer barreled boys and your real magnums!!!..............LOL!!!!!

................As a matter of fact, at my request from Hornady, they e/mailed me some reloading and velocity data a few weeks ago using the 225 gr. Horn. SPT`s............From a 20" tube using 79.5 gr. of Rel 15, the 225 gr. gave a chrono`d velocity of 3000 fps. Winchester 760 also gave the same velocity results according to Hornady..........IMR 4007 SSC, a little slower burn than Rel. 15 can also be used in the 375 Ruger, which I will try later as well...
