ANY INPUT ON THESE?

They look pretty nice but I do not see justifying the $800 price for a "regular Rem sporter". I may be wrong.
Accuracy???????

Pop,

The XCR (Xtreme Conditions Rifle) is a basic M700 SS with Remington's proprietary TriNyte anti corrosion coating, which is a multilayer electroless nickel and PVD formula. I think the XCR also has the new X-Mark Pro trigger too. This all adds up to a lot of coin for a M700.

Pop, I have a Remington 700 XCR and I really like it. Mine is the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation limited edition with the camo stock and it is great.

Mine is chambered in 300 WSM and it shoots really well. Last week I shot groups with it that measured 0.75 inches with the 180 Partition and 0.53 inches with the 180 Sierra Pro Hunter.

This rifle should be impervious to weather. With the stainless steel and the special coating I imagine it will do well anywhere. The trigger is even nickle plated to resist corrosion.

That is the only problem I have had with mine, the trigger. I have owned a mess of Remington rifles and this was the worst one I have ever had. It was so very inconsistant from pull to pull. I have a Lyman electronic trigger guage and this trigger would vary by as much as two pounds on each pull. I got aggravated and replaced it with a Jewell, problem solved ! (This was not the new trigger that Remington is putting in this rifle now.)

The rifle just feels lighter than it really is. It is nice to carry and comes up very quickly.
I am happy with it.

Having said how much I like mine, my buddy just sent his back to Remington. He has a black stocked model in 300 WSM that would not eject worth a darn. Right out of the box it would extract the shells, but just would not eject them from the action. So it is back at Remington right now.

If you like Remingtons and may hunt in bad weather, this is a great rifle.

Nice !

Maybe a 7 RUM instead of the 264? hmmmmmmmmm

While living in Alaska 2 of my good friends had these. One of the was a 338 and the other a 300WM. They bought them because they were doing alot of hunting in the Prince William Sound from a boat and there Stainless guns were showing signs of exfoliation and pitting (even with nightly oiling).

After 2 summers of hunting in the "Sound" with all the salt in the air,the saltwater splashing up in the baot and getting the guns wet, they showed no signs of corrosion. The TriNyte coating really works.

Years ago as kid my family did alot of oil drilling the Gulf of Mexico.the rigs and machinary were coated with stuff (not called TriNyte then) and it held up just fine.I dont think you can go wrong with getting one if you are going to be hunting in a wet environment.

POP, I have mentioned a couple times before that I have a 375RUM. It happens to be an XCR. Love it. Shoots very easily, and is REAL accurate. I have told you before about my velocities. Using the 260 AB I consistantly get 3 shots under an inch at 300 yds. Also, with scope, sling, and loaded it tips my Postal scale at exactly 8 lbs. Spendy? Yea, but...

I have one in 300 win mag that I'm getting ready to take for a trade in on a Browning Abolt Stainless Stalker 7mm Mag...

POP:
I have one in .338RUM. As spoken it balances and feels like a rifle 2 pounds lighter. It just today put four 225gr Nos. A/Bs in .75 in. at 200yds The trigger is the old one and it was finniky to set but I wouldn't trade it for another of the top end rifles. I feel I'm paying for what it can deliver instead of what it's called. It's built for function and dependability not bells and whistles. Buy it, you won't regret it if you give it a chance. If you dont like it make sure it's in 7mmRUM cause I want one.
Good Hunting
Elkhunt
