Rem. Mountain TI rifle

The Tikka Lite weighs about 6lbs 6oz. and according to the Tikka Performance center they have replacement ultralight laminated stocks that knock 4oz. off of that for about 6lbs 2oz. With a Leupold VX3 4.5-14x40 at 13oz. It's still under 7lbs. With an 8.9oz. Leupy 3-9x33 it's about 6lb 11oz. I can carry that up the mountain.

Seriously, if I wasn't broke as a joke I'd be all over that. Even better would be a 7 WSM Montana.

A Kimber Montana is going to run about 6.25lbs, according to the factory specs. If you're interested, I know where two are, slightly used, that might go for $800 or so. Asking price is $899, but I've always been able to deal a little with this shop.

According to Kimber's web site an 84M Montana weighs "just over 5lbs". The 84M in .308 that I handled was surprisingly light even with the 2.5x8 Leupold siting on top of it.

I hear you, Charlie, but this is not the 84M, it's the 8400 - because it's a short mag. I got the weight from this page on Kimber's site:

Of course, if you want a light Kimber (or a light production rifle of any kind) it's hard to beat this new little gem:

A fellow could build that thing out to be ready to hunt (sling, ammo, scope, and a few beads of sweat and some dirt) at around 6lbs. Scary light!

My Rem 700Ti in .270 Win is my lightest rifle/scope combo by far, even with a heavy-ish Conquest on top. Whenever I pull it out of the cabinet, along with a bunch of others to wipe down, it still surprises me each and every time. Have a couple of nice Featherweights and some other lightweights as well, but there is simply no comparison.

From a weight/handling standpoint, I suspect they are much like my Colt Light Rifle. The specs are very, very similar - 24" barrel, 6.25-6.5lbs overall weight, similar stock design (though the stock on the 700 is far better than the tupperware on my CLR). Very handy package indeed.

That is a great looking rig! It is no fun dragging heavy rifles up the sides of a mountain!

Especially for old, fat farts like me!

I've never weighed it, but the Ti I own in .270 is rated for 5.5 pounds with a 22" barrel.
