Been looking for a nice Remington 788 for years and one of my customer heard I sometime buy rifles. He was not sure of the caliber, ended up being a like new 788 in 30-30. Not my first chose of calibers but I bought it anyway. Should be a fun shooter. Anybody else have and shoot a Remington 788 ? Thanks NF

I have one in 7/08. Replaced the trigger and stock. Excellent shooter. I have loaded for several others and all have given excellent accuracy.Rick.

I regularly load ammo for two different ones, a 6mm and a 308. Both are tack drivers and have filled many freezers. Good guns. Wish Remington would bring these back instead of wasting our time with the plastic BB gun looks of the 710, 770, and 783.

The 788 is one of Remington's better ideas. They were not overpriced and shot well. In the 30 30 caliber, you can load them a little hotter than a lever action, and can use pointed bulets too. Good grab!

Had a few of them and worked on some others. All were truly accurate guns.

Fastest lock time of any bolt!

Back when remington was "Big Green"

I have a 788 in .30-30 as well, darn accurate little rifle. Shoots most factory ammo under an 1" for three shots, and loves Hornady's Leverevolution ammo. With that ammunition it cuts little cloverleafs that will put my varmint rifles to shame. I've tried 125 & 135 grain spitzers reloads in it but nothing shoots as well as traditional flat nose bullets. One of these days I'll buy a box of flex tips to load up.

The boys here probly sick of hearing about these 2 , 788's. my dad's 6 mm Remmy (dad turned 70 in oct. ) then dad bought pretty much duplicate of his rifle when my son was born. He turned 1 in Jan . ( Granpa was a bit excited) both great rifles .

Thank for the feed back. I have wanted to get in to bullet casting and shooting cast bullers in a rifle. I think this 788 will work just fine for that.

I've had one in .222 for almost two decades. I have a shot at another one in 6mm tomorrow---if my coworker remembers to bring it to work (I have a VERY understanding employer!). He wants $500 for it, scoped, but I'm not probing him on the scope brand...I don't want him thinking too much about that. I think I've seen the rifle a time or two but I just don't recall the scope brand. If the rifle was not in nice shape I know I would have made a mental note of it, so if it does have a nice scope on it I think it would be a killer deal!
