Looks like some of you guys are really large bore conousoirs! I guess I fall on the small bore side. I don't ha e anything over 30 cal and I really stick to 7mm and down.

Grab a 45-70 or 444... Cheap fun and it'll get you in the big bore side! :mrgreen:

The hornet, 8x57 irs and 16 gauge are all in one rifle.

Used to have levers in 44 mag and 30-30.

Load for and shoot
Soon to be ex-wife's 6,5 x55 and 308
222 rem
7x64
8x68
300 wsm
8x57 is
And 6 or 7 other 308's

Will soon add the 9,3 x 62 to the 'load for list'.

Not many Wildcats around this side of the big pond.

There is either a big bore lever or an AR10 on the 'things I don't need but want anyway-list' for driven hunts.

If I were honest with myself, the 30-06 would be all I need except for pelt-hunting and small game.

Handgun: 22 lr, 6mm-225 Win, 30-30AI, 380, 9mm, 38 Special, 357 mag, 45 ACP, 45 Colt

I handload for all except the 22 lr and 30 carbine.

Bruce not knocking the .22 mag but from my experience the .22 Hornet is better more fun and you can reload it and save money compared to the .22 mag it is more cost efficient. >)

I never ever saw were I needed a 22 mag in a rifle. My cousin had one for a while when we were growing up and hunting together but discovered it did too much damage to a squirrel and you could get two or more boxes of 22lr ammo for the price of one 22 mag. Where I have used the 22 mag is in a pistol it will duplicate 22 lr performance. About 40 years ago I got an H&R 7 1/2" barrel pistol with two cylinders, one for 22lr and the other 22 Mag. I have used the 22 mag a good deal. Originally got it to use while trapping and to carry just in case you needed to finish off a deer when shotgun hunting with buck shot in NC. Back then the only handgun that you could legally use for such was a 22 rim fire.

The 22 Mag is very popular for beaver here in Canada, and other fur bearing critters on the trapline, where those without the special (and difficult to acquire) carry permit for a handgun on the trapline, put it to good use. Just gives quicker kilss for beavers out of the water, so they do not make it back into the water, and not as powerful as the Hornet, which tears up the fur more. Also more effective on wolverine.

I have used a lot, but these are the ones I use with any regularity anymore.

22 magnum. I don't do a lot of small game hunting so it's mostly small varmints I use this on.

204 Ruger I had one built that shoots the 45gr Hornady SP or the 40gr V max very well. I mostly shoot the heavier bullets through the fur season and put the lighter ones in during spring and summer. It stomps yotes if I stay off bone with the light bullets and breaks bone with the heavier ones. I carry it when I might get a cat and don't want to tear it up with a bigger more explosive bullet. Cats seem scared of it, I never see one when I have it.

223 I use an AR for a lot of my coyote calling and have a bolt in it too I carry in the truck or use as a trainer quite a bit.

243 I do a lot of my windy day or longer range coyote hunting with this. I have an old Sako someone else beat up as a truck gun before I got to start beating it up that shoots 90gr Accubonds great. They work on everything a 243 works for. It's good for antlerless season or a loaner rifle too.

25-06 I use this most of the time now for antlerless season. I have others that work as well, but I like the 25-06 and it needs a job. I got a load figured out for it, 100gr Sierra Gameking at 3300fps, so it will get more use now. It stomps coyotes too when I take it out. Usually for smart coyotes later in the year.

264 Win Mag This is my deer/antelope caliber. I have had great luck with it and use it a lot. A long sleek 140gr bullet fits the ranges and wind that most of my deer hunting occurs at.

300 Win Mag. This is my elk and bigger rifle. My 300 is lighter than the 264's so sometimes it gets to deer hunt too. It will shoot a 180gr AccuBond or E tip well. Only one animal has escaped it so far that I have lined it up on. It was a tough shot anyway and my partner ranged the wrong buck, I dialed for 440 yards instead of 419. It raises my point of impact 5" at that range, and the shot was challenging enough if I'd have had the mechanical part of the equation perfect. The 190 class muley ran off unharmed, I hiked in the next morning to check the snow where he was standing to be darn sure.
