Rifles... THANKS!

Here's a custom built 40X with a 28" Hart barrel in 22-243AI.

I do have rifles other than Winchesters, though I don't normally advertise the fact. Most of them will deliver the goods when I am forced into using them. I even have a few Remington built rifles in my safe, though that isn't generally known. This is my Anniversary Model 280 Remington. Slinging 150 grain ABLR bullets, it accounted for a fine elk and a nice mule deer last season.







Still, the love of my life in firearms are Winchesters, such as this 270 WSM.\





Lined up is a collection of 2008 produced Winchesters (left to right, .30-06, 270 WSM and 300 WSM).

Here are a few of my older Winchesters. Left to right are the 7mm WSM, the 325 WSM and the 7mm Remington Magnum. Each of these rifles has served me well in the field, accounting for numerous head of game.



Well, okay, here are the newer rifles, several of which replaced older versions of the same rifle. Again, left to right, 30-06, 270 WSM and 300 WSM. They've been used less, with the exception of the 270 WSM which has accounted for several elk, moose and whitetails.



Here are a couple of older Winchesters. On the left is my older 280 Remington, which has brought home quite a few head of deer (both mulies and whitetails). On the right is an older 300 WSM which I sold in order to acquire the newer 300 WSM. That older rifle did bring down quite a few moose, elk and black bears. Both of these rifles serve me well.

I mentioned that I do have rifles other than Winchesters. Here are a couple. A Remington CDL chambered in 257 Roberts. I haven't shot anything with this yet, but it is on my "to do" list. The Remington 673 has accounted for several elk at this point.



Then, there are my Rugers. The .358 Winchester is on the wood and the 35 Whelen is resting against the wood. The Whelen has since received a new twelve twist Hart barrel.



Still, I keep returning to Winchesters. This is a build with a Winchester action; it is 9.3X64. All it has taken so far was one whitetail that was focused on a girlfriend.

I`ve always been a "rifleman". I guess it all started when I was a little boy too reading cheap Western dime novels. Later that evolved to sixguns and sixgunshootin´. Never had a pistol never wanted one either.
I have had a leveractionen rifle since I was in the late 14s and actually sold my last leveraction(Winchester in 38-72wcf) last year(I had 36 Winchesters at one time). I must have a leveraction again along with a Colt SAA 1st Gen which I had 8 of.

Here is a deluxe 1886 from 1907 in .33WCF.




Here a .303 takedown Rigbymauser with a LeeSpeed in .303 also.


Here is a Steyr rifle in 9,3x64 I actually regret I sold..

Lovely examples of the rifle makers art. I can see why you would regret allowing the 9.3X64 to have escaped your grasp.

I too was hit hard by the lure of the Rifle as a young boy, and have fond memories of being in the field hunting Rabbits or Bobwhites as a kid. I could never get enough books on the subject to read about and living the dream through them. One that sticks out that got a lot of attention was a book by Bob Hagel, "Game Loads and Practical Ballistics for the American Hunter". Bob was "The Guy" to get me into reloading and his 7mm Mashburn magnum had always been my dream cartridge to own one day. Only that dream turn toward the 7mm BooBoo developed by Dave Tooley that used the 8x68s RWS case necked down to 7mm.

I later met Kenny Jarrett when I was hooked into super accurate guns and had him build me a 280 AI on a Remington action with his barrel in a McMillian stock.

Here's a gun that was first built by Bruce Bear that I could never get to shoot well, even after 250 rounds. So I sent it to Kenny and had him rebarrel it with one of his barrels in 300 Jarrett. It was super accurate right from the beginning and still is..... shoots a 165 MRX @ 3400 fps. This on wears a Nightforce NSX 3.5-15x50 on a Neskia Bay action and a H&S Precision single stack DBM which feeds the Big 8 case flawlessly.

Same here, Bob Hagel's books and articles snapped me in pretty quick. He is probably the reason for my love of everything 7mm and 338. Although I believe he would have liked the 35 Newton with 250 Noslers!

Beautiful rifles RM! I'm a Winchester nut but man that Steyr 9.3 looks like a rifle that'll hunt.

I have them. Love to read his books. I tend to reread them pretty often.. He is pretty much the reason I am gunning for a 7mm Mashburn.. Getting closer to that goal as well.
