Rifles that Need to be Hunted (or loads developed for) in 2025

I talked with Eric at BMP, he just needs to bed and assemble my 25/7 PRC built on a Borden Timberline Magnum LA, 24” Benchmark .257 1:7.5 twist CF Sendero lite, TT Diamond 2 stage, Hawkins BDL w/Watts extended box, in a MCS T Elite CF stock. I don’t remember what it was going to weigh …. But it should shoot extremely well once I get it going.
Looking forward to hearing howthis performs.
What is your expected velocity with the bullet you have chosen to try first?

My friend’s 25/7 PRC built on a Tikka with a 22” bbl was in the 3,150-3,200 fps range with Hornady 134’s behind VV N570 in necked down ADG brass. His final load I watched him put two first round hits on a 12”x12” plate @ 1,200 yards off the back of my PU tailgate!

I’ll break in the bbl with VV N160 with Berger 135 LRHT’s in ADG Brass. Although I’m going to deviate from Caleb’s load, and use N560 instead.

The guys over at WTO tested this pretty extensively and they settled on that, which is where the reamer came from.

I have a rifle tag for mule deer and another for antelope. Will use my 28 nosler and 175 gr ablr’s or my .300 wm and 180’gr AB’s. I’ll have the 7mm-08 with 150 ablr’s in the truck in case I think I can use it first.
Will just have to see how things play out

The way your 708 was performing on African antelope, I would think you would just keep hunting antelope with it, regardless of range!
Confidence is High!

I’ve got 3 that need to see some hunting.

308 win (AR-10 head to toe Aero Precision 20”.)
I am completely fed up with this cartridge/platform combo. It has a good chance of becoming a 6 creed.

7MM REM MAG (Remington 700 BDL 26”)
It’s shooting very well with 175 ABLR’s and ramshot GRAND at 3100 this will be my elk gun this year.

30-30 (Rossi lever gun 16”)
I’m really impressed how well I shoot this thing. Using 160 Hornady FTX and Leverevolution. I didn’t draw a deer tag so this one might see some bear action in the spring.

I think you’re going to love the FTXs.
My handloads, out of my 20” carbine barrel of my 94 are traveling around 2315 FPS.
I knew I had an accurate load, but to know that they are traveling pretty quick for a levergun was exciting to me.

Life is funny. I sold a bunch of guns to bail us out of some troubles. I started cutting and selling firewood as well to help us out.

A lady traded me her late husband’s hunting rifle for several loads of firewood as she was short on cash and long on guns. It is a nice New Haven Winchester Model 70 Classic Sporter in 7mm Remington Magnum. Some Remington 150 grain Corelokt ammo came with it. So now it looks like I need to work up a load for it. Always wanted a nice 7mm Remington Magnum!!

I had a Winchester Mod 70 7mmRM that grouped the Remington 150gr CL factory better than the Winchester Supreme factory loads. So, try them see what it does. IMR4831, IMR7828 and RL22 did well in mine with my handloads.
