I am wanting to know if the RL17 powder would be a good choice to try with 120 grn bullets for my 7mm 08, i have a few pounds of it along with a pound of RL15 and 4 pounds of IMR4350, of those which would be the best way to go, i am going to try 2 different bullets, 120grn Barnes TTSX, and 120grn Nosler BT both loads for deer, hopefully with the powders i have i will be able to find some good speed and accuracy, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have not played with R17 in any of the 7mm-08's I have, but R15 is my go-to powder for the 120's my son shoots in his. Great velocity and accuracy. R17 and 4350 are supposed to have very similar burn rates, so it you don't like 15, the others may give the results you want.

RL-17 was developed fairly specifically for the WSM line of cartridges and though it may work ok in the 7mm/08 I think RL-15 may be a better choice

Works great in my 30-06

.5" at 100 yards
Win Brass
53gr RL-17
180gr AccuBond

Just picked up some Nosler brass today and some Fed 210s, we'll see how it does tomorrow.

crash0ride,

Welcome to the forum. What sort of velocities are you getting with the 180 AB and RL17?

Not sure, I'm going to buy a prochrono here shortly. I'm fairly new to reloading and don't have all the goodies yet ... ;)

Good enough. The chronograph will be a great adjunct to your work in hand loading. Are you loading any cartridges other than your '06?

Welcome to the forum! Glad to have you aboard. Looking forward to seeing some of your range results! Scotty
