Went out today and did some rockchuck hunting. We shot 2. Only seen 3. There is not that many in my neck of the woods. Really gotta look for them. ANyways, I was using my dads 25-06, since mines broken, its a Ruger S/S, with a timney, shooting 75g vmax at 3775fps. This was the one I shot, range was 150 yards. Pretty devastating performance. The chuck was facing me, that is the entrance hole, the bullet did not exit.

This was the 2nd one shot. My friend took him at about 20 yards with my .222 REM and the 40g VLC at 3700fps. Pretty good terminal performance, but nothing like the 75g vmax. Nice scenery!!

I am surprised the 75 gr V-Max didn't exit. How does that bullet work on coyotes. I may have to give them a try in my 257 Roberts.

You are right, very nice secenry, watch out for the train.

I was very surprised it didn't exit as well. I thought it would have literally ripped him in half. It only could have penetrated 2-3 inches. It works very well on yotes as well. I used it for a season out of my 25-06 at 3800fps. I killed 3 with it, all them dropped on the spot. No exit holes either. Just big entrance holes.

I may be a little off-topic with this comment. I own a Ruger 77 All Weather in 280 Remington and 7 WSM. THe 280 is a tack driver. My longest shot to date is a pig at 389 yards. I could not ask for more from an off-the-shelf gun.

Reloder- There is nothign wrong with Ruger S/S rifles. I've loaded probly upwards of about 10 of them in various calibers, and with its preferred load with btips, I have never had any trouble getting them to group at least .75" at 100 yards. This is just with trigger work. A lot of people bad mouth rugers for bad accuracy, but I have not had that problem yet. A lot of people like savages, so I decided to try one in a 270 wsm, never buy another one. I couldn't get that thing to shoot better then 1.5" and i spent hudreds of dollars on bullets powder and a lot of range time. Savages are junk in my opinon. Rugers are 10x better. Of course, just a 20 year olds opinion, what do I know??

The 75 gr in .25 caliber must be a lighter construction than the 87 gr for the .243 caliber. I shot a coyote quartering on witht he 87 gr v max and exit was gruesome.
