Sounds like a nice deer rifle for sure. What 140's were you thinking of using? Scotty

Well I just called the dealer and told him I would take it.
The wood has nice figure in the stock
My plan is to use it for a blacktail rifle
I will post pictures when I get it home
Elkman if it dont work out I'll let you know

ram161 after you clean it and try it on the range you will have to post some pictures. I've been trying to lure Nodak7mm into getting a Ruger #1A in 7x57 but he has been balking on it because of the slow twist. After you show your rifle shooting those tight little groups with 140 gr. Noslers maybe WE can get him to fold under pressure :!:

Nodak7mm are you listening?

Scotty,
I plan on 140 nosler bt.
I have had good luck with them in a 270 weatherby, and i shoot the 200 gr. bt in my 338.

That 140 would be a great deer bullet. Should be able to push it pretty quick in a #1 too. Scotty

Yes that would be great to see the results.

And yes I am actively waffling/balking and generally having a breakdown on the subject matter.. I am actually awaiting pix on one that is unfired and has extroidenary wood (like that spelling? ).

But going hunting first, leaving tomorrow after work till Sunday.

#1 fever for sure..

Ram161, please let us know your results..

Good luck hunting Nodak and take lots of pictures. We are supposed to get some real weather and snow here. The mountains are seeing it finally and they say maybe 2 feet up higher. We start our SPECIAL hunt on Thursday as well. Be safe!

I have had two Ruger No 1's in 7x57 and still have the second one I purchased. I have some loads worked up with IMR 4350 and both 140 and 160 Accubonds. both are very accurate, at least as good as I can shoot with a Leupold 1-4 on it. PM me when you get yours and I will share my seating depth and loads with you. They are a litte over book but no signs of pressure. Besides most of the 7x57 stuff is way under max for the No 1 anyway.
