Ruger Number One 30-06 - Ruger Customer Service

Thursday I found a beautiful Number One that although previously owned appears to be unfired, at Cabela's in Greenville South Carolina. It has nice wood, but they had no scope rings for it so before I finalized the purchase I called Ruger Customer Service. The call was answered by a real English speaking person. No computer answer, dial one for English, and toggle through a menu only to be transferred multiple times. :grin:
The first question from the gentleman who took my call was what item are we talking about. I explained where I was and what I was considering and he informed me that the rings are normally $35.95 or $39.95 each (I forget which) but he could send me a pair at no charge. All I had to do was provide the tube and objective diameter of the scope to be mounted, polished or matt finish on the rings, and my ship to address.. That is Great Customer Service. (y) My Hat is off to Ruger
 
Excellent response from the company. Pleased that I have Sturm-Ruger stock in my portfolio.
 
Recently did the same with a No 1 I picked up. They have always been extremely accommodating the few times I've called them.
 
Sounds like a new Elk rifle for the fall hunt (y)
That makes 3 30-06s maybe one will head to E.R. Shaw for a new .358 barrel in 35 Whelen or 35 Whelen Ackely Improved :roll: :lol: :grin: John Barness likes their barrels and says they are the best bang for the buck for a hunting barrel $350 mounted to your action and chambered in the caliber of choice. They were once so so but since they bought new tooling they have stepped back up to the plate in quality from what I've read.
I called Ruger customer service the other day to get some new action screws since the factory screws are slotted and they have switched to a allen head I thought I would change them since I broke a screw driver bit for my fat wrench torquing the front screw.
The young Lady I talked to was very helpful and after several minutes found the replacement part number and send she would send me some after giving her my information I asked if she needed a card for payment and her reply was Oh I'm not worried about a couple of screws and there would be no charge.
Yeah Ruger does have good customer service and they speak plain English you can understand. (y)
 
WOW.. great service. If I would have know they would done that I would have called them when I ordered rings for the No1 I got my wife for Christmas.. Good info to know.

For danged sure. They have got to be some of the best CS in the firearms industry.

And as Mike says, I'm glad to have a few in my locker.
 
I recently sent my 1976, 200th Anniversary 30-06 #1A to Ruger for replacement of a damaged fore end. They replace the stock and fore end for free as a gesture of good will. They didn't have any wood as nicely figured as the original, but is has good color and a nice straight grain structure.

That's great service for a 41 year old rifle that shoots well too.

My thanks to Ruger for great Customer Service.

We have three Ruger rifles in our family, two #1B's and a MK II. I feel they build a fine firearm and have been very pleased with Ruger.
 
Although I haven't needed much service from Ruger, I have always been treated well. Anybody that says different is not being truthful.
 
My two experiences mirror the others as they have stood behind their product and treated me well.

Here you go, sorry it took so long. I visited the forum today and it took me a while to learn how to post attachments.

Ruger may have changed the receiver profile since the wood is a little proud of my old receiver. The new wood is nice but it does not have figure similar to the material available in 1976.

The replacement stock and fore end is a bit proud of the receiver. I can't complain since it is a lot less expensive than a custom stock set. The tech said this rifle shot well when he tested it. I shot several .5 to .75 inch 3 round groups with 165 grain Partitions and Ballistic Tips before it was sent to them.

I had a Minox ZA 5, 1.5-8 that will re-mounted when ski season is finished and the range is useable.

Great looking #1!

Ruger customer service is what all firearms companies should strive for in my opinion. Pretty easy to get them on the phone and they have bent over backwards to make me happy many a time.
 
That's a nice looking rifle. I sure am addicted to those #1's!! Oh heck I'm addicted to Model 70 controlled round feed rifles, and Montana rifle company rifles, and Ruger Hawkeyes! The list just goes on and on. Can't forget about those awesome Sako's!!
