 Hello Gentlmen
I was wondering what aftermarket stocks are out there for my Sako 85?
The factory stock needs to go.
So far MPI and McMillan are the only ones that I have found that have said they could do it.
Are there any other brands you guys know of.

DrMike, Thanks for the welcome and help.
I'm not looking for a factory replacement but an better example of a stock than factory for replacement.
I like the rifle I just can't stand the stock it came with.

I'm not sure there's any real point in looking beyond McMillan...

I tend to agree with Guy here, as I have two Mickeys in my grubby little paws (actually they are at home, 1000 miles away, and my paws are neither grubby or little) and at least four on order... I may have forgotten one or two.

But I sure would like to try one of Bansners' stocks. Maybe I'll try one after I hit a baker's dozen McMillans.

I spread my stocks out like I do my barrels. I have more McMillain but also have hightech,B&C,
H&S,Six,Rimrock and I got my first MPI have it on a 338mag. MPI a nice stock and I've got one of these waiting for my soon to be finished 270Wby http://www.accurateinnovations.com/

+1 McMillan stocks are nice!

Thanks for the insight of who's out there.
Sent two e/mails to H&S Pre.. with no reply.
I'm thinking its going to be a McMillan Sako Classic.
What color do you guys think?

Well, I have two Mickeys, and a few on order, and the cool thing about them is you can order all sorts of surreal mixes (McSwirley).

As far as I can remember, I have on order a red-white-blue flame, a 50%/50% black/white mix, a purple/light grey/black mix, and an EDGE fill in olive.

Here's a thread with some pics of other combos.

Oh, and one other thing, everybody might be at the SHOT show, as far as not getting a response.

Order will be going in on Monday for the McMillan.
Thanks for the link BK that was very helpful in the color picks.
Its down to now its on stainless barrel & action with matte scope:
Whats your vote :?: :
(1) 40% light gray 40% O.D. 20% black
(2) 40% Light tan 40% O.D. 20% black

I want to do a Sako m75ss 270WSM with middle stock in the pic-MacMillan (all 3). Been dreaming of this for awhile now since I seen this stock combo. Instrument Tan and another color with white and black webbing.

If not a 270WSM then maybe a 330 Dakota off a "V" action.

Now if I can find a Sako m75ss donor rifle.

Here's what I want with, now to coat or not?

The Finnlights shoot very well. You will do well with that rifle, no doubt.

Very nice MP! That 330 Dakota is a super cartridge. Wished cases could be had a little easier, but man, what a great cartridge it is!

I own the exact same rifle. I expected a better quality stock from Sako in its price range.
Did your rifle gain any weight with the new stock? I do like those mcswirley stocks. I should look at them a little closer. Brian
