Good day folks,
Looking for scope mount suggestions for a L61R. Rifle in question is chambered in .375 H&H
Never owned a Sako before and not too familiar with the dovetail setup. Do I need bases and rings, or just rings to fit the dovetail?

You can get either set up. I've used Leupold Rings that clamp down directly to the dovetail and I believe a Burris base that went onto the dovetail and then just regular rings on top of that.

I have and run both styles of rings and bases on my Sakos. No complaints with either the Sako one piece, or the Optiloc one or two piece versions.
While the Optilocs are more expensive, but are more robust, and they do have the plastic ring liner that is nice as they won't leave ring marks on your scope.
The Leupolds will be a little lighter, but your 375 H&H isn't exactly a mountain rifle so the couple of ounces shouldn't be a worry.

Thanks for the information. So with the Optilock, I would need to get bases and rings, correct? Scope will be a Burris FF 3-9x40. Would that work with low or medium rings?
