Im about to open a new can of RL22 and it has a different lot# than the can im just finishing up. Do you guys think i'll have to start over with this load or can I expect it to shoot the same groups as the previous can? I know im going to have to load up some bullets and shoot them to actually see but im just curious as to what experience others have had when using the same powder from a different lot. Thank You!

Everyone says drop your load by 10% then work up again. I can say that i have loaded a different lot # without worry about it and it was fine

My policy is that whenever I change any component (including brass, primer, bullet and/or powder) I drop back at least five percent and work up. Whenever I change lot number, I follow the same routine. I hate surprises, especially when I am hunting.

I recently did the same thing with RL-22 and with the old lot I was running 86.5 gr with 2920 fps, new lot 85.5 gr running 2955 fps and groups are not the same. Yes I would drop back but then that's just me.

Yup, that's the reason I started buying 5lb'ers of RL series. I haven't been surprised yet, but I drop back a little just to check. Only takes a couple of rounds to see what change, if any there will be.

Thanks!, I appreciate the feedback. I will defiantly reduce my loads. SJB528 ....i too will buy the 5lb jugs next time I can get my hands on one.

No worries buddy!

I will be living down in NC before too long, so we may be shopping in the same stores! HA!

Good deal, I live in the southeastern part of the state and have been here all my life. As for powder it's sort of hit and miss right now around here but it can be had you just have to keep checking weekly with the local suppliers to see if a shipment came in and hope something arrived that you're looking for.

I'll be down around Sneads Ferry or Jacksonville...

I'll keep my eyes open!

RE powders, especialy 22 is notorious for lot to lot varience, I finaly quit using it for that very reason.

I'll be down at Camp Lejeune living in Sneads Ferry. Doesn't get much closer to the water and the ocean should be right out my front door. Rigs always open buddy! Come on down.

Rodger, I'm staying down there by myself as the family is staying Va till my son graduates so you will see me. I'll be back and forth plenty.
