Does anyone have any info on the Savage mod 11 in 270 WSM? It looks interesting to me. I would put it in a different stock. How do you think the factory barrel would shoot compared to a Shilen barrel?

It will probably shoot great, the WSM's have a 2 shot magazine which may or may not matter to you.

A hunting friend has 2 of the Savage stainless 16s in 270wsm and they are very good. He handloads for them, but he has a box of Federal 100 gr. factory loads that will group into less than 2" @ 300 yds. Not bad,

They tend to be shooters. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Had one. TACK DRIVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same here. Wood stocked 110 in 270WSM, one of the early ones with an Accutrigger.
It was deadly accurate, and its favorite ammo was Federal Fusion.

I probably would have kept it, but I detested the bolt. Notchy, stiff, just horrid to use. I sold it to a friend whose college age son uses it now. He loves it, and that's all that matters. I just couldn't see putting over $300 into an action tune at SSS for a rifle that cost me $300.

I've learned enough in the past few years that I likely could have improved the action feel, buty I've moved on.

I would not be afraid of the accuracy on any of the Savage rifles. But I just have a trouble with their looks .
But that is just my eyes :)

Blessings,
Dan

...no problem w/ the Savage other than they're ugly, but instead of buying one & putting a new stock on it, I'd probably just buy a Tikka T3 Lite & be joyous...

Don't know much about the Savages, other than they shoot and are reliable.

The 270 WSM, absolutely one of the best. I won't likely ever be without a Model 70 so chambered. Accurate, fast and very easy on the shoulder. I can't say enough good about mine. It has loved just about everything I have put through it and it has taken little to no load work to make accurate loads. Love it a bunch.
