Savage question

Getting a Savage in .243 within a couple weeks. My question is, what model?
I was thinking a M10 Preditor Hunter but starting to think about the American Classic since I am a fan of wood. I have always loved Winchesters but after my last one I am looking for something else and Savage seems to be the choice for accuracy. Any thoughts?

If I were picking up a Savage right now, it would be a 14 Classic or a 14 American Classic. I do like wood.

Yeah, me to. Darn, had my mind made up yesterday. The preditor hunter has a little heavier barrel but not to sure that would be a big advantage to me, thinking about hunting with it and not real happy lugging a heavy gun anymore.
I guess I want it all. :?

I like the lumber too. If I had the $ to buy a new rifle my Logic would be I could pick up a synthetic to a laminate at any point.... real wood from savage might not be so easy to come by. Justa thought. CL

I bought a Savage 11 in 300 WSM topped witha Nikon 4.5x14 scope today just because it was cheap($295). I haven't bought any Savages for a long time but this rifle seemed pretty nice for the price. I really didn't need the caliber but for the price.................................

The Savage Model 11 LW is a handsome rifle. I had not seen this. Perhaps I will have to secure an iteration of this particular rifle for testing (6.5 X 284 Model 111 LW or .308 Model 11 LW).

No kidding. The 2011 catalog also states it offers it in a 6.5 Creedmoor as well. I wonder how much the 11LH would cost.

I've never been a Savage fan but it seems I could change based off of recent reviews and an updated product line.

I have the 243 predator and a 243 weather warrior. Both great shooters. More weight in the predator. I use it more for still hunting and range work. The weather warrior I carry in the field for longer hikes

Can not go wrong with either

I went with a modle 12, and it shoots lights out. If you are wanting a packing gun thought this is not the gun for you. I'm sure you will be happy with either one you decide on. I have been very pleased with it as it was my first savage.

I would expect that you could get .5 MOA out of them without to much work.

This may be the dumbest reasoning yet, but whatever I bought last (wood or synthetic, I'd go the opposite. So in my case right now, wood.

oh yeah, sorry, I forgot I started this thread :? . Went and got a Predator Hunter in .243 last weekend, viewtopic.php?f=9&t=15235 had it up to the range and it showed promise but still need my rear mount tinkered with some.

I was thinking hard about that rifle too, found an American Classic on sale in .243 but passed. Would rather the Classic, not a fan of the really shiny Browning style finish.

I am in love with this thing, not as pretty as wood and blue steel but I have pretty rifles that don't shoot like this.
