Anyone have any experience with the newer Savage hinged floor plate models? Do they feed well etc. Was thinking that a model 116 left hand 6.5x284 would make a nice switch barrel rifle with one of these:

E.R. Shaw 35 Whelen barrel kit, everything you need for $200, just add a gun :)

Fascinating idea. Ordering across the border may be a bit tricky, but it is doable.

Was thinking Clay at Prophet River Firearms could get me a kit, he imported my 375 Ruger ss/laminate for me if he can't then this idea is dead in the water :) Pretty neat idea for a kit though.

FWIW, Corlane Sporting Goods is the Canadian agent for Midway USA. So long as the item has been listed with Canada Customs, it can come into the country through the listed agent.

They are good dependable guns. You will not have any problems with them.

As far as ER Shaw barrels go I have seen them shoot well and I have seen them do a tremendous job as a tomato stake.
My buddy had them built a 260 Remington on a Rem ADL. All the prerequisites were there for a tack driver. The most he could get out of it was 1" groups but he was happy with that.
