First time to post guys. My trophy grade 280 AI is on the way. What scope bases should I use? I will mount a Leupold VX3 4.5x14x40 on her. Would appreciate any help.

I just put some Leupold dual dovetail bases and rings on my son's 300 WSM with the same scope and Medium rings and it fits perfectly and they look really nice. I've always had excellent luck with Leupold stuff. I have seen some new one piece rings and bases though that I think are a great idea. Talley makes some and I know they have an excellent reputation at Talley so I think those would be great. I really like the idea too because it just takes one more part out of the equation for things to fail or to be out of alignment. I would still lap the rings even with those though. Doesn't take much time and I think it's worth it. Good luck and welcome. You will find that guys on this site are fantastic and more than willing to help a guy out.

Talley LW or Leupy DUal Dovetail.

As good as it gets.

Welcome to the forum and trust you enjoy the interaction from some really fine men.

I've mounted a 4x32, 6x36 and a Zeiss 3-9x40 in Leupold dual dovetail using LOW rings on my M48, everything fit perfect and lets me get a good cheekweld on the rifle.

My suggestion is to try to get the scope as close to the bore as possible and still clear the bolt handle and objective lens.
