Scope for 17hmr

Just purchased a 17hmr and was wondering what power scope to put on it.
I hear the 17 can be a 200yd gun and was thinking about a 4x14. varmints will be the intended target.

Get a variable. 17HMR is a flat shooting round and you can extend it a bit more than 200 yards. That requires at least a 10X scope. Buy any scope that your wallet will allow. A good quality glass is a must. Goodluck
