Fellows, we have to stick together. Each of us can share a little of the burden which permits our fellow forum members to surrender to their RADD. Keep making those suggestions to one another; it will serve a friend well.

I am trying to do my part. I think we need to start pushing Woodycreek to build his 30-06 Ackley! He already has the action and it has a trigger. I have tried to push him, but I think I need some Nosler assistance to get it done... Told him, box that rifle up and get it off to PacNor.. I need some reinforcements! Scotty

Brian! Build that 30-06 AI! Box up that action and ship it off--TODAY!

Now, doesn't that feel better, Scotty, knowing that you've done your part and that others have your back?

Yes sir, it sure does. Brian needs some coaxing to get going, but whew, once he is rolling, it is first class all the way! Scotty

Whoa! Easy guys! Scotty will get more than a stink eye from my wife if he keeps this up.

Don't hold back on him Fellers! I can take the HEAT! Scotty

I dunno', Scotty. The stink eye from a maddened lady can be tough to take. Stand tall. You can handle it. It'll all be worth it when Brian handles that new 30-06 AI!

I need no help.

No, really, I don't!

Jake,

The Marlin 1895 45-70 is not a "want", its a "need" rifle.
They are very accurate, hit like a freight train and follow up shots, if needed, are right now. All of this raw horse power that is a joy to carry.
A Leupold VX-3 1.5-5x20mm would be a excellent scope.

What are ya waiting for?

Kurt,

I'm inclined to agree with you. However, I don't want to risk missing the opportunity to push you a little further along the road to this weird madness known as RADD.

I got a 1.5-5 vx3 for my marlin- I like it and it looks really cool on it. :)

That is probably one of the best yet for the Marlin. Scotty

Ummmm, yeah, what Jim said, X2! You probably can't live without a proper thumper. Think about them elk in the timber and how happy you'll be when you give them 300-550 grains of GOOD NEWS! Scotty

Thanks a bunch, Mike. Thanks to this thread, and the Savage rifle thread, I'm now canvasing GunsAmerica for Marlin .45-70s and .450s, and Savage 6.5-284s.

Let's see, a 1.5-5x20 VX3 for the 6.5, and a 5.5-20x50 Nightforce for the Marlin... uh, what?

Kurt,

Go with the 45-70 instead of the 450 Marlin. Better brass availability and tons of load data. You can load the 45-70 from mild to wild.

Hey, if you are gonna do it, go big! Might start looking for a .444, too!

Anything worth doing is worth overdoing, right? Moderation has never been a big strength of mine.

Jim, and Scotty, I was sitting here reading this and told my wife about it. I didn't mean to throw you guys under the bus, but she says your on her "shit list" now. Glad I can get some company, it was getting boring there all by myself.

Who me? Huh? Did what? Really?

Ah, don't feel bad Jake, I live on that list. That's why I bring you all with me, it's lonely all by myself! Scotty
