Got the bear rugs up on the walls - here's my son with his.

Guy,

That is a beautiful bear! Congratulations to your son John, the memories you both made will last for generations.

Awesome bear! Congrats to your son! That is a helluva good bear. Scotty

Your son has every right to be pleased. A second round of congratulations now that he has the hide rugged.

I'm sure it is a thrill for both of you to see that rug on the wall. No doubt both might be caught running your hand down the rug as you pass by... :)

Congrats to you both.

Nice Bear Guy.

He took it with a 375 Ouch & Ouch Ruger #1H Tropical with 260 Accubonds at about 300 yards.

Guy shot his with the Three-Seven-Five... I believe his boy (pictured) shot his bear with an old sporterized Enfield in '06...

Yup:

Young John shot his at about 150 yards with an old M1917 .30-06 rifle, passed down through the generations. It's the first center-fire rifle I ever shot, in about 1966.

I got mine at just over 300 yards with the .375 H&H, Ruger single shot.

Both are good bears, mine goes a few inches over 6' long, his is a few inches under 6' long. Each had the identical skull measurement: 18 1/4".

Friend Chris was along for the hunt and filled his tag with a glossy black sow that wasn't far behind these two boars in size. It was one heck of a hunt.

Guy,

Those rugs got me fired up! I "should" draw a tag this year. Plan on using the 1895 Guide 45-70 to hunt over bait. The only question is what bullet to use! The 300 gr PP or the 300 gr BST.
